Structural Construction
- Tower Body: Generally made of a robust steel structure, constructed from raw material such as angle steel or steel pipe, all structural components are connected with each other by bolts. Tower body is also equipped with auxiliary facilities such as lightning protection tower, lightning rod, platform, climbing ladder, antenna support, feeder frame, and lightning down conductor.
- Antenna: A parabolic antenna is usually installed on the top. This type of antenna can accurately focus and emit microwave signals to transmit information to distant receiving stations in the form of radio waves.
Functional Features
- Signal Transmission Characteristics: microwave frequency band that it is applied to can ranges from 300MHz to 300GHz, featuring a wide bandwidth, strong directionality and low external interference. It enables high-rate data transmission, with concentrated signal energy, only a few watts of power can transmit signals to distance of tens of kilometers
- Coverage Range: Under ideal terrain conditions, signal coverage radius of a single microwave communication tower can reach tens or even hundreds of kilometers. However, if it is affected by factors such as terrain, antenna height, and transmission power (e.g., in mountainous areas or urban areas with dense high-rise buildings), the signal coverage range and quality will be subject to certain limitations.
Applications
It mainly serves telecom operators and radio & television institutions. It is used in the construction of 4G/5G base stations to carry microwave transmission equipment and wireless network antennas. It can also be used as a relay and transmission tower in the radio & television field, with multiple sets of antenna arrays operating at different frequency bands installed to realize signal transmission and emission.
Construction Location
It is often built on mountain tops, building rooftops, or open plains to ensure that microwave signals can be transmitted over long distances with as few obstacles as possible.
